Five places to visit near Bucharest

Maybe the closest is Băneasa Forest. Regardless of the season, the landscape is very special here. What is certain is that you can always enjoy the silence on the forest paths. There you also have the Zoological Park, you can heat a picnic or a badminton game or you can ride the bike for a different kind of adventure.

Valea Doftanei is not as close as Băneasa Forest, but it’s totally worth it. Doftana Valley is one hour and a half away from the city and if you leave early in the morning you can spend some beautiful hours there. Not far away from Doftana Valley there is another attraction that you can consider visiting – Slănic Prahova. It is a salt mine, an oasis of health, that during the working days in autumn can be visited from 8.30 am. to 15.30 pm. (last transport to the underground is at 14.30) and from 8.30 am to 16.30 pm. on weekends (last transport to the underground is at 14.30). You have many possibilities to spend time in the salt mine: from walking in the fresh air, to ping pong, billiards and karting. You can even take a nap in one of the beds arranged in one of the galleries. Keep in mind that the temperature inside the salt mine is 12 degrees, regardless of when you visit it. So don’t forget a sweater or a jacket!


45 mins – 1 hour away from Bucharest there is Comana National Park. You can spend a whole day here without getting bored. Climbing walls, boat rides, long walking alleys, a restaurant to stop for lunch – all this and much more are waiting for you in a dream scenery. Știrbei Estate is an oasis of silence and culture, 15 minutes away from the city. A visit there can be both relaxing and historical since there you can enjoy visiting the Stirbey Palace, the neo-Byzantine chapel with neo-Gothic elements “Holy Trinity” and the water tower designed by Anghel Saligny 100 years ago to provide water to the estate. The entrance is free there, you can park the car very close to the entrance.The landscape can transpose you into a historical atmosphere, the palace being built in the middle of the 19th century. You will come across secular trees, swans floating on the lake and the fresh air will sorround you.
